Sometimes…wishes come true!!!
I’ve been playing music with Danyavaad and the Shimmy Sisters for over two years now. Actually, in 2007, when I went to Burningman for the first time, I only played my violin for a brief moment. And that moment was when Sandy (from Danyavaad) was playing a set…and I was inspired to grab my violin and play for a few minutes.
We’ve just returned from a really fun and (I think) in ALL WAYS successful stage show in El Paso, Texas. There was laughter, tears, love, fairies, hula hoops, and wild crazy stage curtains that almost cut our heads off with their ferocious decents from the sky. (There will be video forthcoming.)
So now we’re back in San Diego, brainstorming ways to bring the show to Southern California. MEANWHILE Danyavaad and the Shimmy Sisters will be playing a show at the Casbah, in San Diego, on Tuesday July 19th. We’re going on after the Orphics, and opening for Khaira Arby and her band. This is her first show in the states.
In the 9 Levels of Bliss show, my character is the “Fairy of Love.” I’ve been walking that path ever since. I just returned from playing at the Labyrinth of Jareth Ball on July 1st and 2nd. It’s based on the movie, “Labyrinth.” There were SO MANY FAIRIES!!! And creatures!!! I saw Princess Leia, Dread Pirate Roberts, Buttercup, Skexis, The Phantom of the OPERA, the Green Man, Sarah (from Labyrinth), many many goblins, strange and unusual forest creatures, princesses, gouls, warriors, princes, and have I mentioned FAIRIES???? It was really really amazing.
I got to share the stage with Nouveau Cabaret and Donovan and friends at the Labyrinth of Jareth. We opened the show in the Bronze Ballroom both nights, at 9:30. It was glorious!!! Check us out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjsOdcVdiyY&feature=youtu.be
And I promised a wish coming true. I wished for a picture with Danyavaad and the Shimmy Sisters.
