Some things take a long time in coming, but they’re worth the wait.

I finally got a chance to play music with Michael Mannino, live.  We’ve practiced a bunch of times before;  honing “the process.”  We tried out effects, original songs, playing with beat machines, the chaos pedal, and recorded tracks.  Time and again it wasn’t quite right for us to play out together;  we both went in different directions.

However, it finally happened, at “Inner Vibrations” at the Firegarden in Bonsall.  The time and place happened in the most fortuitous ways….and, as I remember from previous shows with Michael, he walked up to me about an hour before we were to take the stage, during Tropo, and he told me “the plan.”  The plan was perfect in timing and design.  I don’t remember what he said exactly, but the message was communicated, and it was time to go into action.

The moment was perfect!  I played on a couple songs, in the right moment, in the right place.

Our reason for being at the Firegarden was to celebrate Preston’s birthday.  I had been thinking about him a lot the month previously, seemingly out of nowhere.  He was just letting us know he was psyched for his birthday party.  😉

Then I see this amazing editorial from the Reader about the event.  There’s video, and one of the moments I had been waiting for, musically, is forever captured in time.   Without knowing all the backstory of the process we went through,  someone caught the moment.  I am so grateful!!!

Next up is an amazing spectacle of bliss, happening at one of my favorite San Diego venues…Spin nightclub for the final Elev8 of the year on November 25th, 2011.  I’m going to be playing with Joe Osal8, and I’m really really excited about this.  If you’re reading this, then I’ll let you in on one secret.  The patch’s name is “Instant Awesome.”

Govinda is headlining the show, and he is one of my HEROS.  Govinda produces, spins, and plays live violin WITH EFFECTS all at the same time.  HE is AMAZING!!!!
