Happy New Year, and Happy Lunar New Year!!!

2014 is going to be the most amazing year yet;  I can feel it.

I just moved into a new home in North Park, and I love it!  I’m spending time sorting myself out and figuring out next steps.  There are many exciting events in the works.

Regardless of whenever Danyavaad will make an “official” announcement, I am parting ways with that magical mystery tour and moving on into my own direction.  We are amicably parting, and when the new cd “9 Levels of Bliss” is released, I will be RIGHT THERE for the cd release party.  Their journey to record that album started 3 years before I even joined the band, so completing that work of art will be a momentous occasion for all of Danyavaad and the Shimmy Sisters.  Best of luck to you darlings!!!

I realized that I’ve been involved in one band or another for about 11 years in a row.  Some people have serial monogamy;  I seem to have serial BANDONOMY.  It’s pretty funny.  It’s definitely an interesting head space to travel in; being on “my own.”  However, I’m not really alone.  My interest is now, and remains, violin music making, but instead of playing with other djs, I’m playing the dj role myself.  It’s so much fun;  I really love it.  I will play now and again with other djs (magical moments in the works for the future on that one, TBA).  However I get to spend time choosing and playing the music I like, without needing to run it by anyone or please anyone else.  I’ve learned so much from all the djs I’ve worked with, and now I get to put it to good use!!!

So what is going on with me, exactly?

Well, I’ve been busy organizing our monthly S.H.A.F.T. nights at the Kava Lounge in San Diego.  Our next event is this Friday, February 7th.  It’s some of my favorite people in the world birthdays:  Cortney, Lisa Ubiquitous, and Duckman!

Then, coming very soon, May 1-5th, is Electric Poncho, 2014.  A magical Music Festival in Baja, California, organized by my very dear S.H.A.F.T. crew.  The first round of presale tickets sold out in 3 days;  but we still have 1st and 2nd tier tickets available.  More Talent To Be Announced very soon.  Check out the website at www.electricponcho.com

Electric Poncho is one of the most beautiful, amazing, lifechanging events I’ve been involved with.  I’m very excited to experience it this year, and see what incredible changes it catalyzes within each of us.  And very very soon, I will have stickers to hand out.  Hooray!!!

Oh and I’m going to Santa Monica to see my hero, Simon Shackleton, play a 6 hour set with my bff Melinda at the end of February.  Swoon!!!  Happy BestFriendiversary, Melinda!!!
