An amazing, mind-blowing, non-stop whirlwind of a year is almost over…and one last show to go!!!

I looked up today and realized it’s been 6 months since my last blog post;  Burningman swept me away and I’m still feeling the waves ripple through my life.  Everything and anything I could change I have;  I’m holding onto music like a ship in the storm.  Finding peace in the midst of all the changes is a challenge;  but I’m starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I’m trying to be the best person I could be.  I stop and ask myself, “What would Simon Shackleton do?”  and then the answers become clear.

So my last show this year is Chakra Cleansing S.H.A.F.T. night at the Kava Lounge in San Diego on December 13th at 9pm.  I’m running the musical marathon and that’s the finish line.  Saving the best for last, or at least the most energy-clearing musical amalgamation I could possibly create;  with lots of bass. I want everyone to walk away from this show energized and ready to take on the END of 2012.

For me the theme of this show is half joke, half serious.  (“what, Sarah?  Only half-joke?”) As we co-create all these musical adventures together, it’s so much fun to go on the more spiritual side of the musical journey.  We’re all coming together, each in our own part of our artistic and life processes.  Sometimes happy, sometimes sad, we dance it out.

However, there’s also the emotional cliff at the edge of the sound.  If we go too far, suddenly we’re lost in the stars, in the deep reaches of space within our own minds.  We’re suddenly taking the spiritual edge too far, and getting caught under the waves.   Nothing is worse than being at a dance party feeling SAD.  Hence, it is even MORE important to laugh at ourselves and with each other, and get down and dirty for some chakra clearing.  Let it all go, and hug your best friends. 

This year has been so full of transition and change.  It’s time to start clearing out to make way for the new ideas and opportunities.

I’ve been very lucky this year to perform, record, and share creative space with amazing wonderful friends.

Thank you to Danyavaad and the Shimmy Sisters;  Adelaide, Gabriel, Greg, Leilainia, and Sandy.  You’re all brilliant, and I learn more from you everyday I’m in the band.  Adelaide and Leilania, your energy inspires me, and thank you for putting the snakes on me while playing the violin, that is so much fun!  Gabriel, Greg, and Sandy, robot dinosaur hugs!!!  More adventures, please!!!

Thank you Otherwise Entertainment, for showing me that you can run a complicated show with humor and grace, and still give yourselves time to change into the Bear Costumes for the GRAND FINALE. 

Thank you Unity, for casting me multiple times in your productions, adding to the magic and vision, and giving me freedom to express myself however I’m feeling on the violin.

Thank you to Derek Adams for teaching me about technology, adding reverb on the violin using a rubberband on the mixer, mastering tracks I write, and all the rest of the magical things we did this year.  Way to ruin SD Decom!

Thank you to Madame Raine;  who got me to write and perform viola on my first electronic music track LIVE in front of PEOPLE.  I love taking your dance classes, being inspired by your philosophy of movement, and dreaming with you.

Thank you to Dr. 42 for the lasers in the waterfall.

Thank you for Nathan Boolean Trujillo;  looking forward to your cd coming out SOON.  Recording with you was one of my favorite experiences;  that studio was amazing, and you’re a superhero all the time.

Thank you Philly B;  your mixes are out of this world, and I always love sharing musical space with you.  Thank you for inspiring me!

Thank you Michael “Divinity” Mannino;  you’ve got great vision for the future, and I’m so excited for all the possibilities!!!

Thank you Zoe Tantrum;  I want to be like you when I grow up.  Let’s play some music sometime soon!

S.H.A.F.T. Family;  you rock my world with all your style and whompy bass!!!  I vote you most likely to win a mixer from Kid Koala.

Last, but not least, Thank you Lindsey Stirling!!!!  We haven’t met in person, but seriously, keep doing all that magic with your violin.
