Well, I’ve had a bit of time off from the fray of the musical musings and performance creation. I miss it. But I have to say, looking forward to each and every show and preparing for what is coming soon is adding a delicious anticipation to the month of February….
The first song I wrote this year is called, “Violin Space Rodeo” and you can find it and download it from Soundcloud HERE. I am getting more and more excited by plugging the violin into the computer, adding LOTS of effects, and creating music that no one has ever heard before.
One of the Ableton Live MASTERS, Jon Margules, aka HOBOTECH is coming to San Diego and is teaching a workshop at the Kava Lounge Saturday the 16th. My first live violin performance of 2013 is February 15 at the Kava Lounge in San Diego with Duckberry Crunch. It’s going to be the most epic show EVER and I’m really thrilled with the lineup. It all started because Dr. 42 moved away, and he really needed to come back to San Diego to visit us, so the best way to make that happen is to have a great party. Greases the wheel to have all the people in the right places in the right times.
In other news, I joined a Tribal Fusion dance troupe led by Madame Raine called “Muse Melange.” I secretly have LOVED “Tribal Style Bellydance” since I saw Rachel Brice on the Bellydance Superstars, so I’m very excited to move my body, mind and soul in all kinds of fun ways. We explore “liquid movement” and last year for my birthday Madame Raine taught a 2 hour class on robot bellydance. We’ll be performing at the Seria Star 2 Year Anniversary at the Kava Lounge on February 8th, and I hope to see you there!!!
Oh my, the circus is coming back into town!!! The Burlesque Circus, that is!!! Another one of Unity’s AMAZING shows is in store, and seriously, you need to buy tix NOW if you want to be there. The show runs 2 nights, February 22-23rd, and you can learn more about it at the Facebook event HERE. I’ll be there to open the show, and the music I’m playing is so absolutely stunning; I can’t wait to play it for everyone. I also plan to record it and release it after the show is over, so anyone who goes (or who was unable to go) can download and hear the music to their heart’s content. I’m taking a piano piece (it’s a surprise!) and turning it into a solo violin piece. I’m even retuning the violin back to western tuning, and it sounds really gorgeous. I play it everyday.
There are many other projects in the works, but like seeds, the ideas must germinate and grow a little more before breaking through and seeing the light of day. The forthcoming projects and ideas are going to be so much fun to share with everyone!!! Besides, we’ve got all these fun things to keep us busy in the meantime.
Now it is off to reconnect with a group of friends I haven’t seen in WAY TOO LONG. I’ve been in a bit of a hermit phase, going through a process and trying to keep to myself while I handled the ongoing changes in my life. I felt like I really needed the break for a while…But I’m tired of looking at the back of my brain, and it is time to let it go and just relax with friends for a couple hours…a whiskey bar here, and dance party there, a birthday party over there….perhaps a photo shoot or two to breath new life into my miniature embodiments on the web…ah yes, Sarah, it’s time to back away from the computer and go live life.
