I notice the places I most enjoy to play music is near water… hmmm… Waterfalls, swimming pools, hotsprings are all top of the list!!! I should seek out lakes and streams one of these days.
So many things have been happening, it is challenging to keep up!!!
I am very excited to be returning to Contact 2015. I went in 2013, and it was so much fun!!! It’s just outside Ensenada in Baja, Mexico. The camping is beautiful. There’s an olympic sized pool filled by natural hotsprings, as well as a huge hot tub. Many friends are going on the adventure. There’s even a crew of chefs serving authentic Mexican cuisine all weekend- My Favorite Food!!!
Also, this will be the first time I get to share my music through dj-ing with most of this crowd. I’m really excited to share music, and give some mojo back to people who inspired me from the time I moved to California. I’ll be on the lookout for Ninjas…they are tricky and known to sneak up when I least expect it!!!

We are almost halfway through our Summer Lafayette Day Party Extravaganza!!! Once a month, through September, the amazing Circus Mafia takes over the Lafayette Pool area, and we bring sound, mermaids, hoopers, acrobats, and all manner of other wonderful shenanigans to our favorite San Diego venue. We have an amazing group of djs rotating each time, including Adia Break, Bassmechanic, Dr. 42, Duckman and myself. Stay tuned for the next installment because it’s sure to be amazing!!! June Gloom will be long gone by July 11, I expect.

It feels good to be following the performer path once more and really get a chance to focus on the music. Organizing events has been an amazing opportunity, however I’m feeling burned out on that at the moment. I will stand back and let others carry the torch for a while.
I’m grateful for the lessons I’ve learned. It seems like the most important lessons I’ve learned are about communication. If people feel like they’ve been heard, it makes all the difference. Otherwise it’s just people saying things, and there’s no motion towards a resolution. I’ve found if I can acknowledge a person’s concerns, even if the solution doesn’t make it to the extent they were hoping, there’s still the feeling that everyone’s perspective is valid. We all come from a lifetime of experience, and I know we aren’t just talking without thinking. (Facebook comments being an exception. 😉 ) Also, people are much more willing to meet me halfway if I show them I’m listening to their idea. Then it’s possible for a conflict to turn into an opportunity for trust to be built, outside of the immediate challenge.
The other thing I’m trying to do is taking better care of myself. I joined a yoga studio again, and am walking regularly, and I’m planning to get a dog!!! Then I have an instant walking buddy. Taking care of my health is important for the long term, because otherwise how will I EVER WRITE THAT ROBOT DINOSAUR OPERETTA???
Duckman fixed my computer this week. My hard drive has been slowly corrupting for months; often I didn’t know if I could load a track without it crashing Traktor. It’s a huge relief to me. Also, I’m going to focus on learning Ableton Live this summer, after a bit of travel. Robot Dinosaur Space music is coming very soon. OH YES.
